This booklet constitutes the court cases of the 14th Pacific-Rim convention on Multimedia, PCM 2013, held in Nanjing, China, in December 2013. The 30 revised complete papers and 27 poster papers provided have been rigorously reviewed and chosen from 153 submissions. The papers conceal a variety of subject matters within the zone of multimedia content material research, multimedia sign processing and communications and multimedia functions and services.

We obtain the average significance values of pixels in every grid, Sg , which indicates the importance of the grid. The more important grid should avoid the distortion as far as possible, and the less important grid should be deformed more to meet the retargeting need. Being similar to the , we denote the deformation energy of the i-th grid, Eg(i ) as Eg( i ) = where 4 1 e1 k= k − s gek0 2 , i ∈ [ 1, N] ek0 is the k-th edge vector of an original grid, ek1 is the k-th edge vector of the corresponding deformed grid.

In these tasks, Accurate and efficient facial feature point detection is desirable to make automated face analysis systems more effective. Existing methods for facial feature point detection can be categorized into three categories: texture-based, shape-based and methods combining texture and shape. Texture-based methods model the local texture around a given feature point, for example the pixel values in a small region around an eye corner. Typical texturebased methods include Eigenfaces , Elastic Bunch Graph Matching (EBGM) , and Local Feature Analysis (LFA) , etc.
